The Rodfather Tours was born from something much bigger than fishing.
For us, Baja isn't simply a place we love to visit. It's part of our family's story.
Our Baja story
Our family is from Baja, and Co-Founders Randy McMurray and Javier Fernandez have been traveling, fishing, exploring, and making memories there for decades. The connection we have to Baja isn't something that started with The Rodfather Tours—it goes back generations.
Over the years, we've been fortunate enough to pass that connection on to our own children, family, and friends. Baja has been the backdrop for countless memories: long drives filled with stories and laughter, early mornings on the water, incredible days of fishing, meals shared together, and watching our kids grow up experiencing many of the same traditions we've enjoyed for decades.
But as much as we love Baja and fishing, the real story behind The Rodfather Tours is family.
What matters most
We have an unbelievably close family.
We vacation together. We fish together. We celebrate together. We laugh—a lot—together. And most importantly, we genuinely enjoy being around one another.
The traditions behind the tours
Some of our greatest memories have come from simply getting everyone together, heading south, and spending a few days away from the distractions of everyday life.
No complicated schedules. No rushing from one thing to another.
Just family, friends, Baja, and fishing.
Those experiences became traditions. Those traditions became stories. And eventually, we realized we had created something special enough that we wanted to share it with other families.
That's how The Rodfather Tours was born.
The experience
Don't get us wrong—the fishing in Bahía de Los Ángeles can be incredible.
But years from now, we don't think the biggest fish you caught will necessarily be the thing you remember most.
You'll remember watching the sun come up over the Sea of Cortez.
You'll remember your son or daughter hooking into a fish and everyone on the boat cheering them on.
You'll remember the fish that got away—and the story getting a little bigger every time somebody tells it.
You'll remember the laughs during the drive, the stories around the dinner table, meeting the captains, and the friendships that developed along the way.
Most importantly, you'll remember who you were there with.
That's what The Rodfather Tours is really about.
From our family to yours
We created The Rodfather Tours so other families could experience a little of what Baja has meant to ours for generations.
We want the kid catching their first yellowtail to have just as much fun as the grandfather who's been fishing for 50 years. We want husbands and wives to experience it together. We want spouses who don't fish to still feel like they're part of the adventure. We want parents and children, brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren, and lifelong friends making memories together.
And we want everyone who travels with us to feel something that's very important to us:
